no man's land

retribution and complication
construction, destruction, reconstruction

i stood outside and watched their big machines
arrogance that is almost obscene

everybody else just drifts round the mall
no one notices the bombs fall

now we’re going to get our all out war
it’s what we’ve all been waiting for

do you remember how it all began out here in no man’s land
before they hatched their master plan out here in no man’s land
building our houses on shifting sands out here in no man’s land
how could we ever hope to understand out here in no man’s land

no man’s land
out here in no man’s land

there’ll be no appeasement no surrender
for we are the holiest defenders

this is the red line they won’t step across
shedding tears of blood they’ve lost

ideals alien to a civilized society
let them die for their false piety

it’s worth less than spit
but everybody’s excited about it

do you remember why it all began out here in no man’s land
before they hatched their master plan out here in no man’s land
building our houses on shifting sands out here in no man’s land
how could we ever hope to understand out here in no man’s land

no man’s land
out here in no man’s land

you can read us in the papers images of despair
no one cares to give us a helping hand
so here we sit and wait for the rain
out here in no man’s land

do you remember how it all began out here in no man’s land
before they hatched their master plan out here in no man’s land
building our houses on shifting sands out here in no man’s land
how could we ever hope to understand out here in no man’s land

do you remember why it all began out here in no man’s land
before they hatched their master plan out here in no man’s land
building our houses on our shifting sands out here in no man’s land
how could we ever hope to understand out here in no man’s land
