LIFE; THE MUSICAL

A Happy Sea 4:14
As I wrote on the Music page, I've dabbled in almost every genre of popular music. "A Happy Sea" is my humble attempt at country or, possibly, country/rock.

A Song For Two Friends 3:34
I'll Make You Happy If I Can 3:37
One of my favorite artists of all time is Billy Joel, “The Piano Man”. I learned how to play the guitar when I was a kid, taking lessons for six or seven years, if I remember correctly. Any keyboard which I’ve learned I’ve learned over time on my own. I imagine if a piano teacher saw the way I fingered a key board, he or she would go into shock. So I’m not a pianist. However, as I said, I like Billy Joel and he plays lots of songs in which it’s only him and his piano.
Well I tried it on two songs. I tried it with this one and I tried it with a song on my album “Flameland”. I can confidently say that I did fairly well with “Make One More Person Cry”.
I can say with equal confidence that I didn’t do well at all with “I’ll Make You Happy If I Can”. I know when to surrender. It’s been totally rearranged. I hope you can enjoy it now.
In fact, it's very important to me that “I’ll Make You Happy If I Can” comes out sounding OK because of the story behind it.
When my younger sister was even younger, many years ago, she dated a boy for quite some time. Unfortunately, the relationship had a traumatic ending.
After the break up, she dated at least two other people. The first guy had a motorcycle. That really is irrelevant.
I watched them leave to go out on a date one evening. I couldn’t help thinking that if I was that guy and my sister told me about the trauma of her recently terminated relationship that I would be very touched. I was thinking of what I would say to someone who was probably as sad as she was and the lyrics to “I’ll Make You Happy If I Can” were subsequently written down on paper.
No worries, though. The second guy, that I know of, has made her happy (obviously he can). They raised a great family, one of which they have every right to be proud.
I’m glad that I witnessed her and her temporary boyfriend that evening though. It was a good inspiration.

Soldiers Of Peace 1:44
I belong to the Mount Diablo Peace Center.
In 2004, the sister of a soldier who was killed in Iraq posted a poem she'd written in honor of her brother on the Peace Center's message board.
When I read the poem, I was so moved that I posted this song in honor of her brother, Casey, as well as her mother, Cindy Sheehan. I was honored that she expressed appreciation, but was, and still am, sad that it's necessary to write such lyrics to mourn the deaths of soldiers sent to war by The Regime. These soldiers have died for The Corporacracy, Halliburton, Monsanto, Dow Chemical, Exxon, IBM, etc. Deaths that should never have happened. Yet, The Regime continues to defend its serial murders and, the saddest of all, people still don't see the disconnect in all of the excuses, one cascading into the
next when its validity is disproved.
Cindy, I'm glad to see that you've gotten some coverage, that your message of peace is being heard. It's grossly unacceptable and unconscionable that The Regime hasn't heeded your word, the word of a mother who knows what the loss of a loved one in this illegitimate and illegal war feels like.
