  1. Don't You Wish Today Would Never End 2:29
Thanks, Tina. You add a whole lot to a song that means a whole lot to us. Don't we wish, indeed?

  2. I Can't Be Owned 3:38
Featuring the sultry voice of Doreen Peri
    .

  3. This New Life That You Found 3:41

  4. Til Flowers Don't Grow 3:51

If you've been checking this site out, especially the music portion and, even more specifically, this CD, you may have given up on ever hearing an updated, all male version of the old Ronettes song "Be My Baby". Oh you of little faith.

There is news. Yes, it finally happened. I received permission from BMI and Abcko Records to cover the song "Be My Baby". Cool, huh?

There are three other songs that I didn't write that are part of my version of "Be My Baby". You know that "fair use" doctrine I refer to on the bottom of a lot of my pages? I can only hope that I've haven't used more of any of those three songs than is allowed by that famous "fair use" doctrine. I hope, I hope.

So, without further delay, me and the boys would like to sing that old classic rock n' roll song and one of my all time favorite rock n' roll songs!

  5. Be My Baby 3:43

  6. Just To See You Happy 3:16

  7. If I Saw You Again (Si Te Viera Otra Vez) 4:16

  8. I Wouldn't Play Anymore 2:42

  9. I Need You Near (For What You Are) 4:13

  10. I Can't Be Owned (encore) 2:36
In the introduction notes to “From The Heart”, I said that the second and the tenth songs on the CD were one in the same. As you can see, if you look at the title of this song, the tenth song, and the title of the second song, they are, indeed, the same, “I Can’t Be Owned”.

Whereas in the first rendition, Doreen sings this song with a voice I describe as “sultry”, in this rendition, Kim presents it in a slightly different light. It wouldn’t be untrue to say that each rendition is, in its own way, sensual. However, Kim’s voice is higher and lighter than Doreen’s, which injects a bit of innocence into the song. Just a bit of innocence, mind you. Kim Chong has silken smooth voice.

I want to thank Doreen and Kim for lending their voices to this collection of songs. If the song was already good, than these two ladies have made it great. If the song needed help in order to be good, Doreen and Kim provided the help and maybe made an average song good. Either way, they improve it, each in her own way.

  11. I Can Hear You 2:56

  12. Like A Million Years (Or So) 5:11
    It's been a while since I posted a song.

One reason is that I'm working on my music, trying to improve the albums.

I was also finishing up the CD which I believe is my best effort, “Flameland”. If you want to hear samples from “Flameland”, visit CD Baby. If you like what you hear, feel free to buy a copy. CD Baby has music you may never hear because they carry music from relative unknowns. They carry music from your favorite artists as well.

I'm rather proud of “Like A Million Years (Or So)” because I experiment with jazz, something I don't do very often. I hope you like it.

  13. Susan So Serene 2:16
I just uploaded Like A Million Years (Or So) and realized that there's only one song left on this CD. The song is called Susan So Serene. I doesn't make much sense to leave one song for when I get a chance to upload it, so, hell, I uploaded that one, too.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that there is more poetry in Susan So Serene than in any other song that I've written.

The inspiration for the lyrical form is a song by Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young (I"m not sure if Neil was part of this song) called "Helplessly Hoping". I'm just a sucker for alliteration as you'll hear in Susan So Serere.

I use as many poetic devices as will fit into a song about a girl from yesteryear who told me she didn't want to go out with me because I was "too nice". It's good because I never did get into that S&M stuff.

I hope you enjoy Susan So Serene. In fact, I hope that you enjoyed this CD as well as LIFE; THE MUSICAL, Left Where I Write On and War And Other Love Songs. I realize some were more enjoyable than others. As I indicated, my plan is to go back and use what I've learned about recording and reproduce these CDs. I'd like to give them to CD Baby, where my CD Flameland is still for sale.

I've been working on new stuff but, like most of you, my birth certificate didn't come with an expiration date and, as I've mentioned previously, age gets in the way of the talent I once had for which I received no credit and from which I was discouraged by the only people whose encouragement would have been the spark to at least let me try and, if I failed, I could trade taking chances for "stability", a major cause for the death of creativity.

Alas, we can't change the past, so all I can do is move forward until that's no longer possilbe. I have much to say because, whether or not I want to, I think and think and think. And I always hope that some some epiphany will enable, even at this late stage, those to whom I inadvisedly dedicated my life to understand that they, probably unintentionally, set a trap from which someone such as I could never escape.

Isn't that the definition of addiction? One keeps trying, or, as in my case, thinking the same thing over and over again hoping for a different result.

I heard a saying the other day. I don't know who coined the phrase and I take no solace from it, whether it be true or false. The saying said that, "Quite frequently, the "black sheep" of a family is the only sane member of the family". I don't know if that's true and, as I stated, it gives me no comfort. It's just something that anyone who's doesn't fear introspection may think about.

Well, this has certainly gotten morose. I don't know if it's because I'm out of CDs, though I have no shortage of songs. It's just that the thief, time, is taking my talent, my creations and any little affect that I might have on society with it.
